 Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

This workshop will help participants to understand the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the Smarter Balanced Assessments, and their application to students with disabilities. CPAD Activity Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

On March 4, 2015, with lovely weather and clear sky after the rain, government officials and representatives, community dignitaries, with CPAD Board members and CPAD family members and youth gathered together at the CPAD Activity Center’s construction site: 10950 Grand Ave., El Monte, CA  91780. Inspiring and encouraging speeches with respect to CPAD's work and project were given. Many media reporters from different Chinese TV, and newspaper, also attended and reported on the event. CPAD Orange County Chapter: Parent Training

Orange County Chapter workshop “Special Education Law” - on March 21, 2015, Attorney Craig Liu gave Orange County Chapter parents a talk in Special Education Law. Mr. Liu discussed in detail about the IEP (Individual Education Plan). He also talked abut ITP (Individual Transition Plan).  It is importment to plan our children's future based on his/her interest and how he/she can become an active member of the society with appropriate support. CPAD Alhambra Headquarter

Gold Line Metro educational field trip - November 22, 2014, fifty (50) CPAD members gathered at Gold Line Metro stations in Pasadena and East Los Angeles for a great ride to the colorful Union station and then a short walk to the Chinese American Museum and Spanish Town. For many this was their first experience riding the metro, buying tickets or using their Access cards and learning how to board and exit the train safely. We were greeted at the Chinese American Museum by the Museum's Director and assistants and made to feel welcome. (More ...)

CPAD Orange County Chapter: Parent Support Workshop

November 15, 2014, CPAD Orange County Chapter - Attorney Andrew Greer of Law Offices of Liu & Naime gave us a talk on "Living Trust and Special Need Trust" in detail.  He talked about the importance of trustees and the possible candidates for trustees, such as relatives, sibling, banks, and fiduciaries.  Mr. Greer discussed the differences between first party and third party special need trusts and how they affect government benefits.  He also consulted several families individually on the trust issues and special education law issues.  Mr. Greer can be reached at: 這個 E-mail 地址已經被防止灌水惡意程式保護,您需要啟用 Java Script 才能觀看

The Arc is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Mr. Kevin MacDonald, CEO of the Arc Los Angeles & Orange County, will be speaking on options for people with developmental disabilities after High School and Employment Options. He will also take some time to explore how to navigate the Regional Center system as adults.
