CPAD 阿罕布拉總部 - NTC 基金獎 及 CICPA 京劇義演籌款

NTC Wismettac 基金會獎 - NTC Wismettac 基金會提供了$25,000給華裔殘障者家長協會，用於籌建活動中心。該基金會的宗旨是支持亞裔的殘障者社團。協會 Vanda Yung, Stella Chow 於13年12月23日拜會了基金會副主席 Nishikawa 先生，並被 NTC Wismettac基金會的創立故事深深感動。基金會的創立初衷是為了支持和幫助日本的殘障人士，兩年前繼而努力地將援助擴展至全美的亞裔殘障者社團。

加州中國表演藝術學院 - 於11月22、23兩日舉辦了“2013中國文化及表演藝術節”，並再次將慈善義演所得全部捐贈華裔殘障者家長協會籌建“活動中心”。為了弘揚中華文化，為了我們協會的孩子們能早日擁有自己的活動中心，徐院長雖身體不適，還是堅持到現場觀看，親自關注過問募款情況。兩日的京劇義演籌款活動, 籌款總額為$11,188。華裔殘障者家長協會向徐院長致上最高的敬意與謝意！同時, 也要感謝 Joanne小姐, 為籌畫此次的演出, 辛苦地奔忙努力，使得藝術節舉辦得如此成功圓滿。當然更要感謝主持人, 所有的演員, 及台前幕後的工作人員！

橙縣分會「邁向2014年」慶歡會 - 時間悄悄地流逝, 一轉眼又過了一年，CPAD 橙縣分會, 在12月21日抓住2013年剩餘的些許日子，擧辦「邁向2014年」年终盛會。今年, 除了有總會的理事全部參與，還邀請了 OCAAC 的新負責人, 以及即將退休的原負責人, Joyce 。家長們都非常感謝他們長期的讓我們使用這麼好的地方！

Dear Friends and CPAD Members, 

CPAD Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to introduce our newly elected president, Mrs. Vanda Yung.  She is the mother of Nanette (CPAD Rainbow dancer).   Her husband Michael, who also provides CPAD technical support, is the ‘Creative Audio Visual Technology Class” instructor.

In 1982, Vanda received a Master degree in Social Welfare from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After graduation, she joined the Chinatown Service Center in Los Angeles serving the Chinese immigrant community in various capacities, including 15 years of bilingual and bicultural clinical/counseling experience as well as over 10 years of other managerial experience. She has involved with CPAD families and programs since 2001. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Being familiar with Chinese culture, she is particularly resourceful in servicing and training our parents and members with special needs. CPAD welcome Vanda to be our new president.

Please extend your support to Vanda and CPAD as you had supported our late president Rachel.  With your support and Vanda’s new leadership, CPAD is looking forward to building our network resources, expanding member services, and completing CPAD’s new center.

CPAD 社區家長資訊中心 (CPRC) -       光碟放影

            學習及行為中的感官統合問題

感覺處理障礙症，或者說對正常的感覺經驗無法做出“恰當＂的反應，影響了至少 5% 的兒童。在這張DVD的現場演講中，Carol Kranowitz 為我們提供了許多有關感官統合的方法和活動，這些方法不僅在美國也在世界各地廣受歡迎。Kranowitz 還討論了有關感覺處理症的研究進展，也分享了她自己二十五年的教學經驗。對於每一種的感覺需要會如何影響兒童的行為，她都會用一個相關的故事來解釋。她提出的一些有效技巧 、有趣的功能性活動，無論兒童或學生有何種感覺需求，都大有助益。Carol 活潑的演講，既充滿豐富的感覺問題的資訊。光碟以英文播放，中文翻譯以分段總結方式進行。

演講議題: 感覺處理障礙的六種形態, 以及它們如何影響兒童的日常生活; 可能並存的一些問題,如視覺、聽覺、吃、睡眠、情緒控制 ..等。

In remembering our dear President Rachel Chen, who passed away on July 3, 2013, CPAD is having a memorial service on August 24, 2013, Saturday, 1 pm, at the First Christian Church in Alhambra. Rachel was recognized by the State Senator Carol Liu in     2009 as “Woman of the Year”. And, in 2005, she was awarded the “Elizabeth Guinn Memorial Award” by the San Gabriel /Pomona Regional Center for her great compassion andsupport topersons with special needs.

Even though she has gone to be with the Lord, her spirit, commitment and her passion for the disabled and especially for the minority communities will stay with us forever.  We will always remember her smile, her dedication and eagerness in serving families with special need individuals as well as her colleagues.

“In memory of Rachel, her family has chosen to partner with CPAD in establishing “The Rachel Chen Memorial Fund for CPAD Activity Center”. As of today, thanks to many who love and remember Rachel, the total donation into this Memorial Fund is $14,228.”
