CPAD Alhambra Headquarter - CPAD Community Involvement
CPAD Participated in “Relay for Life” - Since 2004, CPAD has participated in the Long Beach Dragon Boat race in July every year. Due to a series of fundraising events for the CPAD Activity Center, we temporarily pull out of it this year. However, on June 22, 2013, we mobilized our active family members to participate in a very meaningful event, which is the well known Relay for Life program, a fundraising activity sponsored by the American Cancer.
The event was held in Monterey Park. All major activities hosted by Chinese American were considerably successful. Many prominent local officials came to the opening ceremony. CPAD was proud to be part of the community teams’ to parade around the stadium; our rainbow dancers presented a couple brilliant performances. It was a great day to be outdoors to participate in the community activity. What’s more, it feels good to serve the community as well. (Li Lee, Activity Coordinator)
CPAD Orange County Chapter - Workshop
“The Affordable Care Act and Its Impact on OC” Workshop - 6/15/2013 CPAD Orange County Chapter – Mr. Arif Shaikh, CalOptima Legislative Affairs Manager, gave us a talk in “The Affordable Care Act and Its Impact on Orange County”. Mr. Shaikh explained what CalOptima is and how it serves a large population in Orange County through its Medi-Cal, OneCare, CalOptima Kids, and Multipurpose Senior Services Program. He also introduced us to the “Affordable Care Act” and discussed how it will help many people who are previously uninsured get coverage. Look out for “Covered California”, California’s Health Benefit Exchange which will provide a user-friendly web portal to launch by October 2013 to help people shop and enroll in healthcare programs.
