Public Forum

Promoting Purchase of Services (POS) Equity --Review of Proposals

Date: Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Location:  San Gabriel/Pomona Regional Center (SG/PRC)
                  75 Rancho Camino Drive, Pomona, CA 91766
           Assembly Room A

Background. Recent legislation added section 4519.5(h) to the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act of the Welfare and Institutes Code (WIC), allocating $11 million to the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDS) to assist regional centers in implementing strategies to reduce POS disparities. Regional centers shall submit proposals to DDS requesting funding to address identified areas of disparity by September 8th, 2016.  Regional centers are required to consult with stakeholders prior to submitting proposals. The Public Forum scheduled by SG/PRC on August 23rd, 2016 is your opportunity to comment on proposed strategies, to suggest activities that may be effective in addressing the disparities, and to provide recommendations to be incorporated in the proposals. News New Resource for Common Core State Standards: The California Department of Education has posted new online resources to explain California State Standards based on Common Core. The resources include curriculum frameworks, information on content standards, information about implementation and other resources for English Language Arts http://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/rl/cf/ and Mathematics http://www.cde.ca.gov/ci/ma/cf/

IRS NOTICE ON EXEMPTION OF GROSS INCOME FOR SOME IN-HOME SUPPORTIVE SERVICES (IHSS) WORKERS

 

As previously reported, the California Department of Social Services – the state agency that oversees the In-Home Supportive Services program statewide – released a press release March 16th regarding a notice from the federal Internal Revenue Services (IRS) that IHSS worker wages received by IHSS workers who live with the person receiving those IHSS services are not considered part of “gross income” for purposes of reporting federal income taxes. The notice by IRS was dated March 1st.   (SACRAMENTO, CA - CDCAN - LAST UPDATED 04/06/2016)
