CPAD Community Information
10 August 2011
Dear Friends:
August 2011
The month of August is National Immunization Month in the United States, and with school starting soon, it’s important that we are aware of all the required immunizations our children need. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, proper immunizations help keep all of us, especially children, safe from serious diseases and illnesses. For information about getting your child’s shots on schedule, please visit the Health and Human Services website (http://www.hhs.gov/). For information about vaccines and immunizations for all ages, visit the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website (http://www.cdc.gov/).
UPDATE: While students in grades 7-12 still need to get the whooping cough vaccination as soon as possible, Gov. Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 614, giving educational agencies 30 extra days after classes start to begin verifying the whooping cough vaccinations.
You can get more information about pertussis and Tdap vaccines from your physician, or visit the Orange County Health Care Agency’s web site at www.ochealthinfo.com/pertussis.
Sincerely,
Lou Correa, State Senator, 34th District
